Water Water Everywhere

This week we will be looking at a new text called Splish, Splash, Splosh. It will tell us the real story of how water gets to our homes. We are lucky because fresh water every time we turn on the tap. That does not mean we should waste it though! Every time we have a bath or shower we use about 100 litres of water. Every time we flush the toilet we use 20 litres. Why not try keeping a water diary for your house for a week.

You will need paper and felt tips.

What to do:

  1. Draw a bath, a shower and a toilet on a piece of paper.
  2. Leave it in the bathroom and get everyone in the family to leave a mark next to the correct picture every time they use one of them.
  3. At the end of the week, count up the marks and get an adult to help you work out how many litres of water your family used in the bathroom alone.
  4. Can you think if some other times your family use water at home?
  5. Think of some ways that you could save water – although not by just staying dirty!

Leave a comment and let the class know how you get on.
